Hasbara

The Hasbara Committee is both BZDs vigilant watchdog against misinformation about Israel, and also the vanguard of BZDs efforts to educate the community about issues which affect Israel and world Jewry.

Because education is a constant evolutionary process, BZDs Hasbara Committee simultaneously focuses on local, national, and international dissemination of information.

Locally, the Hasbara Committee promotes lectures, seminars, personal meetings, and even private correspondence, all of which seek to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Israel among people here in Baltimore.

On the national level, the Hasbara Committee creates programs to educate elected officials, as well as leaders of public agencies and private institutions, regarding the democratically elected government of the State of Israel, and how the nature of that government affects political and economic interests in the United States.

The Hasbara Committee also keeps a close watch on international events, again with the goal of disseminating accurate information and combating falsehoods, whether born of anti-Semitism or mere ignorance of the truth.
